8 weeks

McKenleigh turned 8 weeks old yesterday. She has found her butterfly on her bathroom wall and likes to talk to it. She also found her toys on her bouncer. They are two little spiders and it plays itsy bitsy spider. She talked to them for about 3 min this morning. She is sleeping well and getting so big. Next week she will be 2 months old!

Sleep

This weekend my mom came down to keep McKenleigh so Jason and I could go to our church's Valentine dinner. Jason and I had left her with my mom before, but for only an hour at a time, so this was our first real night out. We had a wonderful time. It was nice to be the two of us for a few hours. When we came home they were having a great time. Mom stayed the night and gave McKenleigh a bottle when she woke up so I got my first good night sleep since before she was born. It was such a blessing. Thank you mom.
Sunday was an interesting day. She slept through church and lunch and woke up at 1:30. After eating, she is usually up for and hour or so, but not today. She was awake from 1:30 - 10:40pm. It was the craziest thing. She was not unhappy, or crying, just sitting the looking around. She played, bounced and rocked. Then finally at 10:00 she started to get cranky. I finally put her down at 10:40 and she slept...until 5:40 this morning. I was worried so I went to check on her a few times but she slept straight through. It was wonderful. I can't believe she will be 8 weeks old on Wednesday!

She loves her bear

This is where Woman(our dog) thinks she needs to be all the time.

7 weeks

Today our little girl is 7 weeks old. She is such a good baby. On Sunday the 3rd she officially moved to size one diapers. She in no longer in newborn. The size one is still a little big, but the newborn really were tight.
We are now on a pretty consistent schedule and that is really nice for me. She wakes up about 5:30 and we play for about an hour. She then goes down for an hour and a half or two, then we eat and play then back down about 10 or 11. she sleeps about three hours and then is up for an hour and back down for 2. Then back up for a few hours. Nights are really hard. She has a great day, then around 6 she has had enough. Sometimes she just needs to cry. After that she is down for 3-4 hours at a time through the night. I do look forward to her sleeping through the night, but I am happier with 3-4 than 1-2.
When we play she really has some great smiles and giggles. We are still enjoying tummy time and now the exercise gym. She tries to watch tv whenever sees it, but I am trying to keep her away as much as I can.
Every night we rock and sing before she goes to bed, and after she falls asleep we pray. It has become a precious routine for me. I hope she will continue to be a snuggle bug for a while. We have been so blessed. Her are some pictures of our little sweetie.

Grandma Becky

This weekend Jason's mom came to meet McKenleigh and we had a wonderful time. McKenleigh loves mornings so Saturday morning about 5am Jason took her to wake Becky up and she laid in bed with her for about 30 min. They just talked and smiled and had a great morning.
Then we packed McKenleigh up and wet to the mall. My mom came down and McKenleigh had such a treat, she had two grandmothers in the back to talk to her. She just smiled and talked to them almost the whole way to the mall. Jason got me some new clothes, Yeah!! I am out of maternity clothes. Becky and my mom were able to shop for and Jason continued his search for sunglasses, but still could not find any. McKenleigh sat in her car seat awake for part of our lunch. We put her car seat on a highchair turned upside down for the first time and it was the perfect height for her to watch us. It was quite fun. Then after a few min. she was back to sleep. McKenleigh ended up with a blanket and shirt from Life is Good and I got a pair of pj shorts and and a little "baby" bucket. Thanks Grandma Becky! We had a wonderful day.Saturday night we crashed after a long day of shopping. Sunday morning again, McKenleigh went to wake grandma Becky up and laid in bed with her. It was so nice to get an extra 30 min of sleep. Then unfortunately it was time for grandma Becky to go. Jason took her to the airport while I got McKenleigh ready for church and she must have known Becky was leaving because she cried for about half and hour. We were sorry she had to leave, but we are so glad she came. We look forward to seeing her soon.
