5 things

Since McKenleigh is 5 months old today I thought I would share 5 things about her you may not know.

1- She is still wearing mostly 0-3 month clothing, the 3-6 month clothes are really big on her.

2- She does not like to be laid on her back. When I try to change her diaper she spends the
entire time trying to roll over. I get a workout every time.
3- She holds a blanket and sucks her thumb when she goes to sleep.

4- In the morning when she wakes up she plays for a few min. then will cough a few times.
She thinks it is funny to cough.
5- Bath time is her favorite time of day. She kicks and talks and smiles. She is our water baby.

5 months

McKenleigh is 5 months old Monday. Wow, where has the time gone? She is doing so well. She has the sitting up thing down, and now we are working on crawling. Here is her version of crawling for now.

It works well and she get anywhere she want to. She will reach for me or Jason if she wants us and it is so fun. When Jason gets home from work he comes in and as soon as she realizes daddy is home she smiles and waves her arms. She loves her daddy.
She has also decided the dog is on of the neatest toys in in the world. She will smile every time she sees the dog, even if she is across the room. When the dog is close, she tries everything to pet or eat her. It is so fun watching them. Today McKenleigh decided the dog's toy looking like fun and every time she got near it, would try to chew on it. What a funny girl. I am truly amazed at how you can put hundreds of dollars of toys in front of her, but all she wants is the door stop or your shoe. The next few months are going to be fun.

She is slowing growing out of her hatred for the car seat. For the past 2 months EVERY time I put her in the car, she cries the entire time. She would cry for 20 min, and it was a mad, very loud cry. Now that we have discovered toys, she is not enjoying the car seat, but she will tolerate it for a few min. and play.

We are still getting the wonderful comments of "she is so perfect", "she is so tiny", "she looks like a little doll" and "what a beautiful little girl". It is so much fun. We think she is wonderful, but it is also fun for others to tell us as well. She really is a happy baby and we are having so much fun watching her grow and learn. We are blessed.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Wednesday was Jason's 33rd birthday. Happy Birthday to my best friend.

Big week

I have not had time to sit down and do a good update, but here goes. After a wonderful time at my parents while Jason was on a business trip, it was good to come home. Thursday night we went to the World Christian Broadcasting dinner. It was a great night. My Uncle is the Vice President and we love to support his work. McKenleigh came and slept on grandma's shoulder. The President of Madagascar was there and we had the opportunity to meet him. It was awesome.
Friday night was a BIG night for all of us. We have season tickets the Nashville Symphony, and it was our last performance for the season.Mom and Dad had a wedding rehearsal in Kentucky so... McKenleigh had her first babysitter other than my parents. Some of our good friends David and Elsa Vester kept her for us, and it was great. Elsa was so nice, right before we left, she said" call as much as you want, it will not offend me". I didn't call once, but it was so nice to know I could call with out upsetting her. Jason and I had a wonderful dinner and then went to the Symphony. It was so nice to have some time together. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful man.
The Symphony was Verdi - Messa da Requiem. It was the most difficult piece I have ever seen and heard. It was great.
Now enough about us, on to more important things...

McKenleigh

What is she up to these days?

She has found her feet and loves to hold them, chew on her toes(as many as she can get in her mouth at once) or suck on her toes.

She like to sit up, but she wants to chew on her toes at the same time.

She is sitting up more and more. She can keep her balance as long as she doesn't lean backwards. Then she falls over, but she is staying up for 3 or 4 min. at a time.

She is up on her hands and knees rocking back and forth, then wiggles to get where she wants.
Ok enough for now. I will write more again soon.

Mother's Day

Sunday was a day full of blessings. McKenleigh slept well so I was nice and rested. I was able to get up get a shower and enjoy breakfast. (most Sundays I am eating in the car) After I came downstairs, Jason gave me a very special 1st mother's day gift. He had written a note from McKenleigh, himself and the dog. Wow that brought a few tears. As you know, Jason does not love woman, so the fact that he included her really was special. He then gave me a little book with pictures and the story of our first year. It was so sweet. I am not a crier, but he got two or three tears out of me. I will try to take a few pictures and post them.

We went to church and enjoyed class while McKenleigh went to the nursery, but I decided I wanted to take her to service with me. I knew the chances of getting through it without her getting upset were slim, but I wanted to hold her on my first mother's day. Our church does so many nice things, and on Mother's day they give two arrangements of flowers at each service. They give one to the oldest mother and one to the newest 1st time mom. Two years ago was my first mother's day at HH, and Jason and I had just started dating, but I remember thinking one day I may get flowers.
Flash forward two years. They are giving out the flowers and I was sitting there as they are asking for the new mother, but McKenleigh was born in December, so I didn't raise my hand, but I was wrong. I was the newest new mother in second service. It was so nice and the flowers are beautiful. What a wonderful way to celebrate a wonderful and blessed first 4 months of being McKenleigh's mom.

McKenleigh made it through the first half of the service, I took her out and she fell asleep on my shoulder and I came back in for the rest of the service.

After church McKenleigh decided she wanted to stay awake all day and play. She was in a great mood and we played and enjoyed time with her. Jason cooked a wonderful meal and we thought we would try her highchair for the first time. We left the tray off and she played for a few min. What a big girl.

She was a surprise to our family, but I cannot imagine a second without her. She is a joy and I am so blessed to be her mom.

Week with Grandparents

Jason was gone on a business trip to D.C. this past week, so McKenleigh and I were able to go back up to Ky. Monday-Thursday. We had a wonderful time and I was able to get some of McKenleigh's baby book done. Jason had a safe trip and we were glad to have the time with my parents. Here are some pictures from the week.

Uncle Adam and Grandpa

The shirt is a little big, but she had to wear it. It says- God made and and Grandma spoils me.

Happy Birthday Uncle Adam

May 2nd was my brothers 28th birthday, so McKenleigh and I traveled to Ky to celebrate with him. Adam is home for 7 weeks for a PT internship so we get lots of loving while he is here. We went up Friday night and stayed through Sunday. Friday night mom was holding McKenleigh and I was playing with her and for the first time she giggle and giggled. She had be laughing once every day or so, but this was the first time she laughed for a good period of time in response to someone. It was wonderful. We had cake and enjoyed family time. We missed having Jason with us, but he needed to stay home and get ready for a business trip. Happy Birthday Adam.

Update long over due

Sorry it has been so long, but it has been a very busy two weeks. McKenleigh had her 4 month check up and shots. Poor little girl. She did so good. She also had her first night away from Mom and Dad. My parents kept her and Jason and I stayed the night at a hotel. I missed her, but it was so nice to have some quality time. Adam and Adrian came for a visit and McKenleigh loved being loved on.

We bought a new stroller, because she wanted to either sit up all the way and look where she was going or lay completely flat so she could sleep. So we have a new stroller.

She has also found her feet and when ever she in on her back she is holding her toes. I will try to get a picture or two of it this weekend.

4 month stats:
12 lbs 1.5 oz
24 inches long
6 weeks
