Bookshelf

Yeah!! After 5 months I have finally unpacked some of my boxes. Last weekend we bought a bookshelf for behind the sofa and I was able to put my books and some of Jason's out. I found a home for my sea turtles and my keys. The Key thing is a BIG deal. I loose my keys almost every day and I needed a place to keep them, but I really didn't have a permanent place for them. I love it. The house is beginning to be our home. I can't wait to paint this summer. Here is a picture.

Crazy month and a half!

Wow, I can't believe it has been so long, but as you know so much has happened. April brought so many laughs, tears and sweat, but it has been a great month.
April 16th-
I was on my way home from work and a woman(talking on her cell phone) hit me from behind. I was stopped at a stop light and she was going about 40 miles an hour and decided not to stop. I was driving my great Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was paid for and running perfect. Well, bye bye Jeep. It was totaled. I was very sad. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt, but I am having trouble with my neck, hip and back. This began our month long search for a car. As you know Jason researches and test drives and thinks and decides, then researches, test drives, thinks and changes his decision. While spending the month picking out a car, I got sick, I ended up going to the doctor and I had a virus, always fun to be sore from a wreck and sick at the same time.

April was not all terrible. Jason and I took my mom and dad to the symphony to celebrate the distinguished teacher award she received at her school this year. We had a wonderful time listening to Mozart, and spending some time together. Congratulations Mom!
I had to put Golf on hold because of my back, but I plan to get back into soon.
Jason and I finally got a car. I am now the proud driver of a 2007 Toyota 4runner. I love it. After driving any and all cars in Nashville I have the one I liked the most. I like driving it when Jason isn't. haha
Jason is playing golf and helping me around the house. He has been hitting from the members tees at our club, but this last weekend he moved back a tee box a did very well. I don't know if I will ever be able to play with him.
We also threw a wedding shower/ party for our friends Shaun and Danielle. We had a great turn our and Jason got to use his new grill. You wouldn't recognize the back year, he has really done a ton of work out there.
Finally, we celebrated Jason's Birthday. We had some friends and played a game. Can you believe it. I have broken him. We play games now and it is his idea. Yeah!

Well enough of the catch up. I am back. I will try to do better keeping you all up to date.
Oh... I am feeling much better.
She was a good Jeep while I had her.

My new Baby!

Party for Shaun and Danielle.

New grill and a little of the work in the back yard.

The monkeys are for the party we had, they don't live there all the time.

Pictures

This weekend Jason and I were able to visit my parents. Jason, my dad, and two men from dad's church played golf Friday afternoon. Talk about die hard golfers, it was in the 30's and even snowed and they stayed out there. I know they all wanted to call it a day, but no one would be the one to say it. As Jason said, "We paid for 18 not 15". They came home frozen, talking about how it was snowing sideways on the 15th fairway. Crazy boys.
While they were out freezing, mom and I spent the day working on my wedding album. We had a wonderful afternoon. We had such an enjoyable time planning the wedding and laughed and talked about our memories as we worked on the album. Mom told me a story, a few weeks ago she was with some friends and they were talking about women's language... "we went shopping but not shopping", She's a girl friend. but not a GIRL friend". They laughed about it and one of the women's daughters was getting married this summer, one's son brought a girl friend home, but she was not a GIRL friend,my brother brought a girl friend home, but they are not dating. My mom said "yeah, Marie and Jason were just friends and then got married". They thought that was just so funny. That is how it happened.
I was thinking today, last easter Jason and I were friends and didn't even spend the day together and this year we are married. Wow how things change in a year.
We had a wonderful time at my parents and look forward to many more weekends with them.
Here are some pictures from the album.

Instead of rice, bubbles or birdseed, I thought it would be neat to leave with everyone shaking Auburn shakers and cheering. It was so much fun.

Habitat

The following blog was sent to me by a friend. It is a post Jason put on his golf message board about out day on sunday with habitat.

OK, I am not the worlds best volunteer and I'm uncomfortable around poor people. Not that I feel guilty for being successful...as the song says, I'm conservative Christian, right wing Republican, strait, white, American male & I believe my success comes from hard work...but my only experience with those I know to be below the poverty level are people walking down the street with a shopping cart and talking to themselves. I'm a much better check writer than I am a hands on guy.I've married the ultimate volunteer, she gets it naturally from her parents. A few weeks back she gets me to come help make dinner for 15 homeless guys as part of a program at church. I'm visualizing knappy headed, smelly crack addicts - it turns out, after talking to our deacon in charge of the program, these guys are heavily screened and have jobs. Maybe they are recovering from some sort of addiction or they are working for a couple of months up here and this program allows them to save money and send it back to their families. OK, I survived and actually want to go back this fall and help once a month (our church does it 4 times a month). So Sunday at 4:30 we wake up to go work on a habitat house with other members of our church. I've been told by Mrs. AU I can leave at noon and head for the club (played 36 on Saturday). I stand around for a few minutes until the guy in charge asks me if I know how to hang siding...um, no but I could order it over the internet...Six hours later, the Mrs. offers to let me leave. By gosh, I've got five or six pieces of trim left and I'm going to finish this dang porch. I stay and according to the supervisor on site, it looked good . The girl getting the home (one of 14 being built in a Habitat neighborhood of about 100) was all over the site helping and was very thankful. I went home at 3pm exhausted and very thankful for my sales job.

PSA, go work on a habitat for humanity house one weekend, I'm not going into detail here, but it is an impressive program and based on how the older part of the neighborhood looked, one that actually works.

It was a wonderful day and we are going back out in two weeks to help again.

Golf Lesson

Believe it or not, Friday was my very first golf lesson. I grew up not liking golf, and with the opinion that it was a terrible sport, I would NEVER play! Then in came Jason. I enjoyed being his caddy last year, and then he proposed at the club. That part I thought about NEVER, well as of Friday that is not true. Jason and I are members of a club here in town (my membership came with the marriage) and if I am going to be a member, I should use it.
To my surprise, I loved it. I had a lesson with the pro, and I have plans to meet with him every Friday after lunch for the next month. He asked me what I knew about golf and I told him," I know this is a club, but I don't know how to hold it, swing it, or tee a ball, but I do know the goal is to get the ball in the hole that is a long way away.
We spent the fisrt lesson working grip, stance and swing. He actually let me hit a few balls and I hit them about 50 yrds. I was happy. After the lesson Jason and I walked 4 holes. He hit of the tee and then I would walk to his ball, tee one up for my self and the we would both hit to the green. I was really great. I never thought I would say that, but I am gld I have given it a chance.
Tonight I was bringing my bag in from the car and it was really weird. I was carring MY CLUBS. Wow I never thought I would do that. I am now a begining golfer. Look out LPGA I am on my way.

Chattanooga

This past weekend we were able to visit with Jason's dad (David) and Dinah. They are missionaries in the Bahamas, so we don't get to see them very often. They were up visiting a supporting church in Chattanooga, so we were able to spend the weekend with them.

Jason and his dad love to play golf together. They had a tee time for Saturday afternoon, but they both woke up hours before the girls did, so what do they do? Headed to the range to hit balls. After an hour or so on the range they came back and brought Dinah and I coffee. Aww I love my morning coffee.

With the guys off to the course and Dinah and I went to the mall. This was my first time to spend time with Dinah and I had a wonderful time. We had coffee and enjoyed good conversation. She also spoiled me!!

Dinah took me shopping and I bought me a new outfit. =) I got new shoes and two purses as well. It was a wonderful treat. I helped Dinah make an Easter basket for a friend of hers, and we enjoyed lunch before heading back.

The guys had a great day of Golf and then we went to Sticky Fingers for some great ribs. If you haven't been there, you should try it. The weather was so good we were able to sit on the porch.
If only the time could last. It is now back to the grind, but the time was so precious. Thank you David and Dinah. We love you.
