War Eagle

Football season kicked off in house this weekend and it was a great day. We invited friends over and we watched football all day long. We started the day at 11 am and kept going until 10. It was a great day with friends, food and family. This was McKenleigh's first of MANY Auburn games to enjoy and she was dressed for the occasion thanks to Da. Now we just have to teach her to say War Eagle!

Swing!!

Sunday night we went to a church picnic. It was at the Hardeman's house, and they had inflatable toys, pony rides, fishing and so much more. We had a great time and McKenleigh was able to swing in their toddler swing. This was the first time she had been in a swing. What do you think she thought of it?? (Thanks Auntie Esh for pictures)

Bath Tub

McKenleigh is getting so big it was time to move out of the baby bath tub. She loves Ducks so much we got her a duck tub. She loves to play with her toys and to get her use to water in her face, we fill it up with the shower while she is in it. It works great.

Da and DiDi

Jason's Dad and Step mother came to visit for the weekend. They got here Thursday night and were able to stay through Sunday. McKenleigh had a wonderful time. Thursday night we took them up to The Mall at Green Hills, and McKenleigh was able to spend time with Da in the Bjorn. We had dinner at Five Guys, and then went to Whole Foods to pick up food for Friday. Jason took off work on Friday and McKenleigh helped Daddy and Da wash the cars, showed Da and DiDi all her toys and talked up a storm. It was a wonderful weekend. We love you and cannot wait to see them again soon.

Boo Boo

Little Bit got her first big boo boo. She was playing on at her table and she lost her balance and bumped her chin. I went to pick her up, thinking it was just a bump, but I was wrong. There was blood coming out of her mouth. I freaked. Poor little girl, there was so much blood I could not tell what had happened, but after a few seconds, she calmed down and I realized she had bitten her lip. Lots of blood, but she soon was back to her normal busy, happy self. Here is my sweet little, poor thing.

8 Months!

Some wonderful things about our little girl

-she is walking down the couch with ease.
-loves to climb the stairs, we could climb them all day.
-will spend all day in a baby wrap or Bjorn if I let her.
-LOVES tunnels, crawling under tables, and into small places.
-sucks her thumb, either one will do.
-still wears size 3-6 months.
-wearing size 2 diapers
-likes to growl when she is happy.
-has learned to whistle. When you whistle to her, she whistles back.
-says da da. Especially when I say ma ma ma ma, she says da da back to me.
-knows her puppy and looks for her all the time.
-puts her chin to her chest and leans over when I tell her to and does a somersault.

What a big girl.

Pictures

Pictures of some of the fun we had had this month.

I love the gate. It does not feel so much like a jail and she like to play with it.

Before I know it she will be stepping over the gate.

This table has become our favorite toy.

Her big smile.

She loves to crawl through tunnels, under tables, through anything.

First time eating sliced bananas. (coated in crushed cheerios so she can grab them)

She loves ducks so I got her this BIG one.

Love my puppy.

Good Morning

My bundle of Joy!!

I can't sit still. I have to play with my toes if I am laying down.

Her favorite place in the car. She wants to drive already.

Zoo Day

On Saturday we took McKenleigh to the Zoo for the first time. The weather had cooled off this week so we decided it would be a great time to go. We left the house early and got to the zoo just as they opened. The weather was perfect. She liked the fish and turtles because they were easy to see, the monkeys because they were loud, the giraffe because it was close enough to see and they have a big bird cage you can walk in and the birds fly around you. She like seeing the birds up close. We were there for a few hours and then it started to get warm and she was ready for a nap so we packed up and came home. It was a great 1st trip to the zoo.

New Class

Today McKenleigh "graduated" to her first Sunday school class. She has been in the Nursery until today. She is now in the Bucket class. She is all grown up and going to Sunday school class. Her teachers said she did really well in class, we hope she keeps it up.

1st Package!

A week after we went to the consignment sale, McKenleigh got a box from Becky and Eddie (Jason's Mom and Step-Dad). McKenleigh has received many boxes in her short little life time, but this one was the first one she has been old enough to be interested in. We had so much fun with the box and then to find out there was stuff inside just made it even better. She has had so much fun with all her new toys.

August!!

Yeah! I am almost caught up. August is half way through, and I am finally ready to blog about it. McKenleigh has changed and grown so much and I realized I didn't have any age appropriate toys for her. I had received some as gifts at our showers, but most were 6 months or younger or 12 months. I needed to get her some toys!! Now yes, she has tons of fun with plastic lids and with cords and plastic bags, but I feel bad letting her roll around with cords and it just doesn't seem safe. (Grandparents... I am only kidding, she is not allowed to play with cords unless they are unplugged from the wall) No really, I am needing to distract her because she loves them and how many times can you pull her away from pretty black cords before she falls apart crying.
As Jason and I realized we were going to have to break down and get this girl some toys, I found out about a consignment sale and Jason's dad sent us some money to get McKenleigh some toys. Jackpot!! I couldn't wait. Well check out all the goods I found.

It was great. She is really enjoying her new toys. Unfortunately, we still have a love for plastic bags, wires and cords and plastic lids. Oh well, at least it is easier to distract her now.

Carpet

The week before we left for the beach, I packed the whole house up and packed our suitcases because we got new carpet!! We got back from the beach on Sunday the 20th and unpacked our bags, did laundry and I repacked McKenleigh's things. Tuesday morning the carpet guys came and I took McKenleigh to Grandma and Grandpa's for the week. The spent Tuesday through Friday in Kentucky and I worked on unpacking and settling the house. She went to VBS at my parents church and loved being spoiled rotten. The carpet is great! We did the whole house, so I am working on getting everything settled, but it is so nice to be rearranging and finally moving some of my things in. Here are a few pictures starting when we got married in 06, before we painted through the new carpet. It is a new house.

7 months and...

McKenleigh celebrated her 7 month birthday at the beach, and it was a big day for her. She was in a wonderful mood so I was shocked to find that her first 2 teeth came in. Wow what a day! She was never fussy or sick. I hope all her teeth are like this. Ha ha, here is hoping.
(click on the picture to enlarge it and you can see her little teeth.)

We came home on the 20th and I was able to try and get our bear picture. Here is how that worked.

Proper Family Pictures

Jason laughed at me when I asked him to take a white shirt and khaki pants or shorts for a picture on the beach. What would you do that for? Coming from a guy who grew up on the beach, why take a family picture there?
Then he began seeing other families in our area with what he likes to refer to as "the proper family picture" in their homes and liked the idea. So here are a few of our "proper family pictures"
