Herpangina
Friday was a hard day. McKenleigh slept and cried or sat most of the day. If you know McKenleigh, then you know the is NOT normal. She is a VERY BUSY little girl, she only cries when she is hungry or tired, and is usually a big smiler. Well not today. She would smile and laugh, then cry and lay on my chest. She looked so sleepy and cried like she was in pain. She felt hot, so I took her temp and it was 101.9. So I called the doctor and off we go. I had given her Tylenol before we left for the doctor to help with the fever, and by the time we got saw the doctor she was all smiles. What a good little girl. They tried her temp. and it was up to 102.7. The doctor was so surprised she was in as good a mood as she was, with as bad as she felt. He looked in her ears, nose and mouth. Then told us she has Herpangina (nothing in common with Herpes) I was worried at first, but the doctor explained it was a viral infection that causes ulcers on the back of the mouth and throat. Poor girl. I am to give her Tylenol for the pain and she should be better in a few days. Well we made it 9 months and a week and her first illness needed no antibotics so I am happy. She has been happy, just very sleepy, not eating much and very snuggly (I must admit I like that part). She is feeling better and will be back to herself in no time.
